2006-2007 MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
Tony Dolce, Bruno Macaro, Danny Pizzoferrato
This committee would be responsible for overseeing recruitment of new members
and retention of existing members.
Overall goal for upcoming year
Lower the chapter’s average age and increase membership
as well as utilizing community service as a recruitment tool.
Top 5 areas for upcoming year
- Establish collaboration with other organization (such as Habitat for Humanity)
as a way to attract new members as well as excite current members.
- Assure that each member is on one committee- Assure that each new
member is assigned to a committee. Facilitate annual sign up for committees.
- Organize and host a new member meeting once a year
- Investigate establishing a teen chapter
- Increase contact with other UNICO chapters
Other areas of concern/future areas to focus on
- Develop a phone tree to be used for event reminders/ meeting reminders/urgent
events
- Encourage active members to contact inactive members to come to events,
meetings etc. Silicate information as to why they aren’t coming.
- UNCIO shirts for members to wear at events
- Paying for new members to attend one large district or other meeting
- Name tags for meetings and events
- Mass mailing to Farmington residents about UNICO and coming to an open
house
- Develop a membership pamphlet for recruitment
- Develop packet for new members

- Work with media committee to develop materials to be given to new members
or articles to be put in the newspaper for recruitment
2006-2007 CHARITIES COMMITTEE
Ralph Alcari, Frank Dolce, Kieran Doyle, Joe Grasso, Jim Kane, Warren
Roberts
This committee would oversee all moneys given out for charitable causes. This
new committee would include the former scholarship committee and the grants
committee.
Overall goal for upcoming year
Maximize our bang for the buck by exercising geographical constraint
and consistency.
Top 3 areas for upcoming year
1. Focus on charities in Farmington and
West Hartford only
2. Work on annual grant awards. Provide
for organization, public
awareness
and recognition
3. Investigate having one theme for all
charitable donations
Other areas of concern/future areas to focus on
- solicit more Italian based organizations/students to support
- investigate having one major charity (ie: Habitat, Food shelf etc)
- consider non monetary donations and efforts (Habitat etc)
- collaboration with various organizations (House of Bread etc)

2006-2007 COMMUNITY
OUTREACH COMMITTEE and FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE

Our
committee is a creative and energetic group responsible for overseeing community
outreach events as well as fundraising events. Each of the
fundraising events has a sub committee to organize and run the event. This
committee would take the lead in these areas however all members are expected
to give of their time and talents as in the past so that all events are successful.

Overall Goals
To promote Italian culture and heritage and awareness of
these in the community as well as maintain fundraising events
.
Top areas for upcoming year
- Investigate obtaining or providing grants to promote Italian culture
- Investigate ways to support Italian studies programs (UCONN, central, Trinity)
- Provide annual presentations at schools on a variety of topics related
to culture, heritage, food etc. This could be during October
- Maintain, organize and run annual events as well as look into new fundraising
events.
- Network with other UNICO chapters on fundraising events
- Improve membership participation and welcome new members by personally
inviting them to participate at events.
- Produce report after each event to include: what went well/what was
a struggle at the event/ what to do differently/ and pros and cons about
having the event again
- Establish UNICO sports teams (sponsorship of teams; creation of our own
team with members such as bowling, and softball; create new teams such
as Bocce)
RESPONSIBILITIES
- It is expected that each member of the committee will attend the monthly
committee meetings.
2006-2007 MEDIA COMMITTEE
Enzo DeDominicis, Kiernan Doyle, Joe Filomeno,
Gary Greco, Paul Moschella, Tom Pandolfe,
Anna Pizzoferrato, Pat Sinatro, Sebie Mangefico
This new committee would be responsible for all media for all UNICO events. The
initial duty would be to gather and maintain a list of contacts for all local
media including: TV/cable access/radio/newspapers/UNICO magazine. This
committee would also be responsible for maintaining the Farmington UNICO website.
Overall goal for upcoming year
Increase UNICO profile in our community.
Top 5 areas for upcoming year
- Improve signage for all events. This includes at the events and to
get
people to the events.
- Prepare and submit press releases-this includes fundraising events,
charitable events,
recruitment and general information
- Update and maintain UNICO website
- Print and distribute UNICO brochure at all events
- Develop promotional materials
Other areas of concern/future areas to focus on
- Regular contact with local media
- Solicit local media to cover events
- Liaison to UNICO national
- Develop annual report for the club
- Develop pictorials of events
- UNICO archives
- Produce master UNICO schedule
- Develop program and information to be shown on Nutmeg TV
- Submit items to UNICO magazine

This committee would be responsible for overseeing monthly meetings (general
membership as well as board) as well as other social events (including Christmas
party etc.)
Overall goal for upcoming year
Improve attendance at meetings by generating interest among
members. Also promote fellowship by providing greater variety of events
for members and families. These might include pot lucks, dances, games
nights, sports trips etc.)
Top 5 areas for upcoming year
- Reorganize board and membership meetings to once a month.
- Develop list of topics for speakers with some emphasis on Italy or Italian
culture
- Coordinate speakers on a variety of topics
- Look into various options for dinner (new food choices, location etc)
- Coordinate invitations of other UNICO clubs to our meetings and events.
- Develop a social events sub committee
Other areas of concern/future areas to focus on
- Develop meeting attendance requirements
- Increase membership fun/social events and activites
- Consider meeting location change (ie: library) should they vary monthly
- Develop interclub bocci evens
- Promote interclub meetings
- Develop and run no fundraising social events
- Develop system to evaluate how should our meetings be run
- Consider card tournament or interclub bowling
- Promote attendance at district and national events
- Create perfect attendance award
- Call members to see if they are coming to meetings
